Community Development
Bun.Kar Bihar, through its value system and passion for the revival of a craft that bordered on extinction, has helped revive several communities that shut their doors against the takeover of mechanized mills. Equipping numerous weavers and hand-spinners with charkhas, handlooms and inverters to prevent disrupted production, has enabled the rebirth of handlooms against countless odds. From rebuilding one’s self-reliance to self-confidence, from rekindling their craftsmanship to bringing a new sense of independence, Srijani Foundation has facilitated a heady new resurgence.
To look at the larger picture, what Srijani Foundation has helped do is plant the seed of possibility, positivity, and revival in these communities. In an environment of machine-run businesses, there is nothing more unique and personal than an empowered person who believes in their art for their bread and butter.
