The Team
Robed with the inspirational words of Late Maharani Gayatri Devi that wove their way through to a young school-going girl as she grew up, and later armed with a hefty MBA degree followed by establishing herself firmly in the world of corporates, Veena Upadhyay was constantly surrounded by bursts of creativity that always kept her company wherever she went. Even when her personal journey meandered a new path for her far removed from the allure of corporate comforts and a glamourous lifestyle, it was then that the seeds of a bigger picture were slowly germinating for a later tomorrow. Veena found beauty, simplicity, colour, joy, and art wherever her husband’s transfers took her family. Through the raw, rustic, and understated cities and towns of Bihar, she discovered the immeasurable talents this Indian state had to offer.
Art, craft, and the passion to create always kept her thirsty to be able to give back to a community that had so much to offer the world. As time passed, her unwavering desire to set the ball rolling into the field of craft and textile grew, till she brought her brainchild to life with the support of her well-wishers.
Veena has worked with innumerable men and women from remote villages to help revive the legacy of Bihar via its handlooms and handicrafts. She travels extensively, in search for more to do, more lives to touch, more hands to come alive on the kisaan charkha. When she isn’t traveling, she’s busy spinning her own weave of a dream that will hopefully put Bihar on the worldmap of handlooms and textiles, one warp and weft at a time.
