Ayana Red

Ayana is a beautiful handloom silk sari embellished with extra weft ‘bavanbuti” floral motifs in kora and amber yellow all along its 1 meter anchal accented by stripes in kora and amber yellow. These motifs continue all along the foot and mathapatti borders woven in kora-shot with red stripes. It has a 1-meter blouse in fine stripes of red, kora and amber yellow to complement the beauty of florals woven in the sari. The sari is 6-meters with 1-meter blouse. Warp is Mulberry silk yarn and weft is Reeled Tasar silk yarn. Extra weft is the traditional weave of south-central Bihar which involves weaving motifs on the loom with an extra spool of yarn inserted into the weft to create exquisite designs on textiles. The traditional weaves of Baavanbuti in extra weft are Bun.kar Bihar’s humble efforts to revive and promote the state’s rich handloom heritage.
